Book Review: "A Passage to India" by E. M. Forster

What an excellent book.  It takes place in the 20s in India--when the British were rulers.  The book shows the complexity of all the different types of people, religion, relationships that is reflected on the landscape.  A woman comes to India to spend time with her fiancee to determine if they should really get married.  She comes with her future mother-in-law.  They want to experience India and its people.  They befriend and Muslim Indian and he tries to help them.  The Muslim befriends an English professor, and much of the book is about their awkward friendship.
